How to get your skincare ready for spring

Ready for springtime weather? This may also mean it’s time to ditch the winter routine and transition your skincare into a spring ready routine. Here is a quick guide on how to get your skincare ready for spring:

  1. Consider adding a gentle exfoliating product to remove that dull dry winter skin. Generally, many dermatologists prefer chemical over physical exfoliation such as alpha hydroxy acid products (face washes, serums) vs harsh physical scrubs or brushes. Our TBH serum is packed with three different alpha hydroxy acids–glycolic, lactic, and mandelic acid.
  2. If you have been avoiding your retinol serums–this is the best time to bring them out. Our favorite? The coveted Retinoath® serum that can technically be used year round.
  3. Daily Sunscreen is still a must! Most dermatologists recommend this year round, but if you aren’t already in the habit, especially important now as the sun stays out longer, we recommend considering extra protection and definitely reapplying if outdoors (in your car) etc. We recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply every two hours especially if outdoors. Our favorite? Our sold out six times, Inzincable® sunscreen.
  4. Consider swapping your moisturizer (and cleansers) from a cream based formula to a gel or foam based formula. These lighter formulations often won’t feel as heavy on your skin which can aid in the warmer months. However, don’t skimp out on the hydration, your skincare routine still needs a moisturizer especially if you’re using a retinol serum.
  5. Don’t forget to spring clean your products: Clean your makeup brushes, toss the expired sunscreens and prescriptions, and consider minimizing the junk to keep your routine simple yet effective.
